Dementia Friendly Linn County

In March 2024, Linn County officially became a Dementia Friendly community within the Dementia Friendly America (DFA) network. Dementia Friendly Linn County aims to reduce the stigma surrounding dementia and those living with dementia.

The DeWolf Innovation Center hosted a parking lot party in June 2024 to officially launch the initiative and begin implementing its goals. An action team comprised of industry experts, those with lived experiences, and individuals living with dementia is currently coordinating training opportunities within the community.

Individuals and organizations can receive training to become Dementia Friends and Dementia Friendly Organizations. The Marion and Cedar Rapids public libraries have both become Dementia Friendly Organizations.
