Volunteers
Volunteers have been the lifeblood of our work since the very beginning. In fact, Family Caregivers Center operations were initially handled exclusively by a mighty team of volunteers. This includes Center Director, Kathy Good, who led the team in a volunteer capacity for six years before becoming an official employee of the DeWolf Innovation Center.
Since 2015, we’ve received support from 300 volunteers who have offered 43,000+ hours of their time to the Center, its programming and those we serve. This is equivalent to more than $1,440,070, according to the U.S. average volunteer time value of $33.49 per hour.
Volunteer Opportunities
We have around 150 active volunteers at any given time filling 40 different roles throughout the Center. Our team helps match volunteers with jobs that provide purpose and meaning for them and those we serve.
While most of our volunteers have lived experience, we offer accessible opportunities for everyone. For instance, some of our offer support by:
- Making cookies or other baked goods
- Packaging new issues of the Centered News mailers
- Offering a friendly face and greeting guests at the front desk
- And much more!
All volunteers go through an orientation and training process!
Regardless of the role, all our volunteers play a crucial role in the success of the Family Caregivers Center and all other programs within the DeWolf Innovation Center.
How to Get Started
Older adults and those living with chronic conditions deserve to live more fulfilling lives. Their caregivers deserve support to make caregiving a little bit easier. And, individuals like you, with lived experiences, deserve to find meaning and purpose in helping others.
